  • First GTF engine to arrive at La Muñoza in 2023

Iberia Mantenimiento has been licensed by Pratt & Whitney, one of the world’s largest aircraft engine manufacturers, to provide engineering and maintenance services for the GTF PW1100 G-JM engine, which powers the Airbus A320neo family. Iberia’s engine workshop will be one of the exclusive authorized workshops worldwide to service and maintain this engine model.

Iberia Maintenance has been working on this project for more than two years. The company has invested in the latest technologies available on the market for grinding, balancing and test data acquisition for the maintenance of this type of engine. Iberia Mantenimiento has also adapted its 52,500 m2 engine shop, which specializes in V2500, CFM56 and RB211 engines, and its test bench, both located in Madrid, to GTF engines.

Iberia Mantenimiento will receive its first GTF engine in 2023.

This new contract demonstrates Iberia Maintenance’s high level of experience, its competencies and its ability to adapt to new market demands. Obtaining certification to be able to service GTF engines is a strategic step to expand the company’s scope of activity and service the new generation of engines that will power the aircraft fleet in the coming decades.

Andy Best, Director of Iberia Maintenance, says: “We are very proud that Pratt & Whitney has placed its trust in Iberia Maintenance and appointed us as a certified center for the maintenance of GTF engines. This is a strategic step in the development of our engine business, which will allow us to consolidate our position as a service provider in short-haul fleets, while ensuring the continuity of our workshop at the forefront of technology in the sector. I would also like to thank both the Iberia and Pratt & Whitney teams for their hard work and collaboration in achieving this milestone.”

“With the increase in engine orders, we continue to expand our presence through our network of trained and quality maintenance providers around the world. In this way we always ensure proximity and seamless service to our customers,” explains Marc Meredith, managing director of Pratt & Whitney’s GTF Engine Aftermarket. “Iberia Maintenance, already a benchmark in V2500 engine maintenance, will be a strong asset to the GTF maintenance network thanks to its experience and high qualification.”
